“Why Business?” Course Recognized by Aspen Institute

May 8, 2018

The ‘Why Business?’ course at the Wake Forest University School of Business has been recognized by the Aspen Institute as an “Idea Worth Teaching,” placing it among 20 courses from across the globe that inspire and equip future business leaders to tackle the issues of our time.

The Ideas Worth Teaching Awards honor extraordinary teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels that is redefining excellence in business education—and ultimately in business practice.

Professors Jim Otteson, Matthew Phillips, and Adam Hyde were the teaching team for ‘Why Business?’ during the 2016–2017 academic year, when more than 480 first-year students took the innovative course in political economy, addressing the central question, “what is the role of business in a humane and just society?”
