Which Disney park attractions do you prioritize first? 🤔🎡📊

Math Business students Hadley Bahr ('24), Jillian Young ('24), and Abby Gardner ('24) are delving into this intriguing question for their capstone project in BEM 392: Seminar in Mathematical Business Analysis. In collaboration with the trip planning company TouringPlans, they aim to identify the best first two attractions to visit at Disney World's Hollywood Studios. Their analysis considers the likelihood of rides being offline at park opening and average wait times later in the day.

Their research caught the eye of the popular Disney-focused podcast, Disney Dish, following a listener's inquiry about which Disney park rides are most frequently offline at rope drop throughout the year.

What about you? What's your strategy for maximizing your time at Disney parks?

Latinx in the Boardroom: Paving the Way for Future Leaders 📈🎩💼

The #WFUSB recently hosted "Latinx in the Boardroom," a first-of-its-kind event dedicated to empowering Latinx individuals toward professional excellence.

Open to the entire Winston-Salem community, Latinx in the Boardroom allowed attendees to engage in deep discussions about networking strategies, navigating challenges like workplace inclusion and imposter syndrome, and the importance of embracing one's cultural identity in the workplace.

A sincere thank you to every participant, speaker, and organizer for contributing to the overwhelming success of this event. A special mention goes to Associate Director Araceli "Sally" Perez-Ramos for her visionary leadership and commitment to fostering inclusive excellence in the boardroom!

What are the common themes and threads among successful Wall Street CFOs? 🤔📈🏦

Last week, the #WFUSB had the privilege to host John Fosina, former Co-COO and
CFO of York Capital Management, for an insightful Hylton Lecture Series discussion on how to succeed in the ever-evolving landscape of financial markets.

In a world that has seen considerable financial upheavals over the past 20 years – including severe banking crises, stock market volatility, and significant regulatory changes – Fosina's guest lecture, titled "The Wall Street CFO Toolkit," provided our #BizDeacs with a deep dive into the complexities and dynamics of contemporary financial markets.

His discussion covered critical topics such as risk management failures, the impact of rogue traders, and the evolution of internal controls and governance needs in response to governmental regulations.

We are grateful to Mr. Fosina for sharing his insights and supporting our next generation of business leaders!

We had the best of times at the Women-Owned Business Market last week, hosted in a collaboration between the #WFUSB and the #WFU Women's Center!

The Women-Owned Business Market is a campus-wide event that showcases a diverse range of local, women-owned businesses. Held in celebration of Women’s History Month, the event highlights the achievements of women entrepreneurs and provides an opportunity for the Wake Forest community to support these inspiring businesses.

Attendees explored and shopped from a variety of amazing vendors from pottery to baked goods and even tax preparation services. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and support these incredible women-owned businesses!
