The Affiliate Program is a new initiative of the Center for the Study of Capitalism at Wake Forest University. The program brings experienced, talented people together to contribute to national conversations about the meaning of well-functioning capitalism.
“Given the current environment, there has never been a better time to launch a program addressing the role of markets in contributing to the health and wellbeing of society,” noted Dr. Christina Elson, the Center’s Executive Director. “Even before this crisis, polls and surveys documented the distrust of both business and government to solve complex 21st century problems associated with education, health, and the environment. The current economic situation demands that we explore the role of dynamic markets in addressing problems that don’t have easy solutions.”
Dr. Elson designed the Affiliate Program to support investigations into how markets can contribute to building stronger systems and how business, government, and civic groups, such as non-profits, can work together to foster freedom, democracy, and general prosperity. The Affiliate Program identifies inspirational and influential individuals and supports efforts including research, public speaking, writing projects, such as books or long-format journalism, art and information visualizations, and media projects, such as podcasts and films. Projects’ outcomes drive high-quality conversations and help create a better-informed public.
The inaugural cohort of affiliates will join the Center in Fall 2020. The Center’s leadership and advisors will work closely with candidates to scope the engagement, time frame, and target outcomes. For more details or to make an inquiry, please visit the Center’s website.
