Filmmaker Patrick Reasonover Named Outreach Affiliate, Joins WFU’s Center for the Study of Capitalism

October 6, 2020

Patrick Reasonover, filmmaker and producer, has joined the Center for the Study of Capitalism as an Outreach Affiliate. Reasonover is creating a five-part documentary web series on the future of the healthcare industry.

The centerpiece of the story is the work of Dr. Anthony Atala at Wake Forest University’s Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The collaboration with the Center for the Study of Capitalism grows out of a film Reasonover called They Say It Can’t Be Done.

“This series will be an important window into an industry undergoing rapid technological innovation and increasing demand. Healthcare is heavily regulated, expensive, and not always understood by consumers, patients and their caregivers,” said Christina Elson, Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Capitalism. “We want to inspire thoughtful debates about the role of the government and markets in serving the public with high-quality, affordable, and safe products and services.”

“Encouraging innovation to support the health and well-being of our planet and our population is critical. We need dynamic, fluid systems that support entrepreneurs.  Using film, video, and online broadcast media to highlight innovators like Dr. Atala and his team through compelling stories is how we will reach new and broader audiences,” says Reasonover. “I’m honored to deepen my relationship with Wake Forest University and to work with so many gifted people determined to make U.S. businesses smarter and more responsive.”
